tides run through everything you 
could not step in the same river
even once upon those who do
step in same rivers different 
& different waters move 

before the river was fuchsia 
now murk lapping pebblemud her
face tells on stone summons marrow
grandmothers with mischief interest
in swords & birth no claim to choose
